The Royal Opera House has announced two cast changes for upcoming productions.

The company revealed that Danielle de Niese has withdrawn from all performances of “La Bohème” to recover from illness. In her stead, Lauren Fagan will take on the famed role of Musetta.

Fagan has previously appeared with the company in “Hansel and Gretel” and was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme from 2024-16. She has also performed with the Zürich Opera, Paris Opera, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.

Meanwhile, Carlos Álvarez has also withdrawn from “Andrea Chénier.” The baritone also recently withdrew from performances of “La Fanciulla del West” in Vienna.

Taking over the role of Carlo Gérard will be Amartuvshin Enkhbat and Aleksei Isaev. Enkhbat has appeared in “Rigoletto” and “Nabucco” with ROH and has also performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Bayerische Staatsoper, and The Metropolitan Opera.

Isaev debuted last year with ROH as Vodnik in “Rusalka” and is set to appear in “Il Trovatore” later this season.
