Royal Opera House Muscat Cancels ‘The Merry Widow’

The Royal Opera House Muscat has canceled its upcoming production of “The Merry Widow.”

The operetta, which was set to be performed on Feb. 17, 18, and 19, was to be conducted by Marco Arturo Marelli with the Orchestra and Chorus from the Volksoper Wien.

As a result, ticket holders will be notified of available refund options for the event.

The news comes a week after the company successfully opened its 2022 season with a new production of “Rigoletto” by the late Franco Zeffirelli.  The production was subsequently presented on Rai 5 with Ambrogio Maestri leading the cast.

The Royal Opera House Muscat next presents the ballet “Anastasia” and “Mi Carmen Flamenca.” The next opera production is scheduled for March which will be a production of “L’Elisir d’Amore” and A Donizetti concert.
