Royal Opera House Leads Opera Categories at Olivier Awards

The Olivier Awards have announced the 2020 nominations.

For the purpose of this article we will only focus on the two operatic categories.

In the Best New Opera Production category “Billy Budd” at Royal Opera House will compete against “Berenice” at Royal Opera House – Linbury Theatre, “Hansel And Gretel” at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and “Noye’s Fludde” at Theatre Royal Stratford East and English National Opera.

Meanwhile, the nominees for Outstanding Achievement in Opera are the Jette Parker Young Artists for their performances in “Berenice,” “Death In Venice” and “Phaedra” at Royal Opera House; The Children’s Ensemble for their performance in “Noye’s Fludde” at Theatre Royal Stratford East and English National Opera; Martyn Brabbins and James Henshaw for their conducting of “The Mask Of Orpheus” for English National Opera at London Coliseum.

The awards will take place on Sunday April 5, 2020 at the Royal Albert Hall.
