Royal Opera House & English National Opera Close Due to New Lockdown in England

By Francisco Salazar

The Royal Opera House and the English National Opera have closed due to the new lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in England.

The new lockdown will begin on Nov. 5 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and will include the closure of pubs, restaurants, and non-essential businesses, including hair salons and gyms. Schools, universities, and playgrounds will stay open.

The new lockdown will only allow people to leave their homes for specific reasons including education, work, to shop for food, health reasons, or for exercise and recreation outdoors.

The new lockdown will go until Dec. 2 in hopes of controlling the virus.

The news comes days after Italy, Germany, Austria, Greece, and Catalonia announced new lockdown measures. Europe is seeing surging numbers in COVID-19 cases with records all over the world.
