Royal Opera House Announces Streaming Slate for December

The Royal Opera House has unveiled a new streaming slate for the holiday season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on operatic performances. Showcases will be available via the company’s online platforms as well as Marquee TV and BBC, among others.

The company will continue streaming “Ariodante in concert.” The Handel opera stars Chen Reiss, Gerald Finley, Paula Murrihy, Sophie Bevan, Ed Lyon, Iestyn Davies, and Thando Mjandana.

Streaming Date: Now – Dec. 20, 2020

The ROH will continue streaming its 2019 production of “Don Giovanni.” The cast includes Erwin Schrott, Roberto Tagliavini, Malin Byström, Myrtò Papatanasiu, Louise Older, Petros Magoulas, Daniel Behle, and Leon Kosavic.

Streaming Date: Now – Dec. 27, 2020

The company is streaming Rossi’s “Orpheus” in collaboration with the Early Opera Company and Shakespeare’s Globe.

Streaming Date: Dec. 4-16, 2020

Audiences will get a chance to check out “The Royal Opera Christmas Concert” which will feature scenes from Rossini’s “La Cenerentola,” Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” as well as extracts from Puccini’s “La Bohème,” Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” and Vaughan William’s “Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Soloists include Jennifer Davis, Hanna Hipp, Jeremy White, and Roderick Williams, as well as Stephanie Wake-Edwards and Dominic Sedgwick.

Streaming Date: Dec. 17-19, 2020

“Current, Rising,” a hyper-reality opera will start streaming at the close of the month. The VR experience was directed by Netia Jones and composed by Samantha Fernando with a libretto by Melanie Wilson. It stars Anna Dennis.

Streaming Date: Dec. 19, 2020- Jan. 17, 2021
