Royal Opera House Announces Initial Lineup of Lunchtime Recitals

The Royal Opera House has announced a new program of lunchtime recitals for the Spring season.

Our focus will be on vocal offerings.

In terms of vocal performances, there will be a recital of three new compositions. Baritone Jia Huang and pianist Satoshi Kubo will play “Letters Home” by Alexander Ho and Theophilus Kwek. “Quietus est,” by Edo Frenkel, will be performed by mezzo-soprano Kate Howden and violinist Chihiro Ono. Soprano Sian Dicker will sing Joanna Taylor’s “New Love, New Life.”

Performance Date: Feb. 7, 2022

Closing out the series will be a recital featuring Chuma Sijeqa and Edmund Whitehead as they take on music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Brahms, and Tosti; they will also present South African songs.

There will also be a recital by pianist Helen Nichols, a former Jette Parker Young Artist and Royal Ballet accompanist who will play music by Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Chopin. Additionally, Jette Parker Young Artists Michael Sikich and Michael Papadapoulos (both pianists) will join forces for music by Bach and Schumann.

The recitals will all be presented at the Crush Room. The series is set to run through May 16, 2022.
