The Royal Opera House has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Rigoletto.”

The company noted, Mexican tenor Javier Camarena has withdrawn from all “Rigoletto” performances. As a result, the role of the Duke of Mantua will be performed by Italian tenor Francesco Demuro.

Demuro made his Royal Opera debut as Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi” in 2011 and has since sung Alfredo Germont in “La Traviata.” He has previously performed in “Rigoletto” in Hamburg, at the Torre del Lago Festival, in Tokyo on tour with Milan’s La Scala, at the Paris Opera, and the Arena di Verona.

He joins a cast that includes Rosa Feola and Luca Salsi. Stefano Montanari conducts the new production by Oliver Mears.
