The Royal Opera House has announced that Alison Langer will be performing the role of Barena in Jancek’s “Jenufa,” starting on March 24, 2020.

She will replace Masabene Cecilia Rangwanasha, who, per the press release, could not take on the role due to her commitment to performances of “Susanna,” also with the company.

Langer is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and a former member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus. Her recent performances include “La Traviata” and “Un Ball in Maschera” with Opera Holland Park, as well as “La Bohème” with Iford Opera.

Langer joins a cast headlined by Asmik Grigorian, Karita Mattila, Pavel Cernoch, Allan Clayton, and Elena Zilo, among others. Vladimir Jurowski conducts.

“Jenufa” will be playing at the Royal Opera House between March 24 – April 9, 2020.
