Royal Opera Announces Cast Changes for ‘Die Zauberflöte’

The Royal Opera House has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte.”

The company announced that Aleksandra Olczyk will replace Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night in performances on Sept. 20, 22, 25, 30, Oct. 4, and 7, 2021.

Olczyk is a well-known coloratura soprano who has performed the Queen of the Night at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Komische Oper, Polish National Opera, Opéra de Lille, Finnish National Opera, Festivals of Perth, Adelaide in Australia, New Zealand, and Volksoper Wien. She has also performed such roles as Gilda in “Rigoletto,” Donna Fiorilla in “Il turco in Italia,” and Blonde in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail.”

The production also announced cast changes for its Tamino. On Sept. 15, 17, 20, 23, 30, and Oct. 4, Bernard Richter will replace Daniel Behle in the tenor role. Meanwhile, on Sept. 18, 22, and 24, Daniel Behle will replace Bernard Richter as Tamino.

“Die Zauberflöte” opens on Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 7, 2021.
