Royal Danish Theatre Extends Kasper Holten’s Contract

The Royal Danish Theatre has extended Director Kasper Holten’s contract until 2027.

Holten first took the position at the age of 26 before leaving to work for the Royal Opera House from 2011 to 2017. He was named Director of the Royal Danish Theatre in 2018 following his departure from the Royal Opera.

Holten is currently the Chairman of the Board of Danish Dance Theatre, a member of the advisory board for the National Gallery for Denmark, and an associate professor at Copenhagen Business School.

He has directed operas all over the world with some of the leading opera houses including The Royal Opera Covent Garden, Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan. In 2010 he directed his first feature film, “Juan,” based on “Don Giovanni.”
