Royal Conservatory of Music Announces January Programming Changes

The Royal Conservatory of Music that it has postponed and rescheduled its January 2022 concerts, including the 21C Music Festival.

A world premiere of Brian Current and Liza Balkan’s opera “Gould’s Wall” that was scheduled between Jan. 12 – 16 has been postponed, with new dates yet to be announced. The opera was set to star Roger Honeywell, Caitlin Wood, Andrea Ludwig, Keith Klassen, Justin Welsh, and Alice Malakhov.

Marc Neikrug’s one-act opera “A Song by Mahler” starring mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert and baritone Kelly Markgraf that was on the repertoire on Jan. 15 has been rescheduled for May 5, 2022.

Finally, a recital by the bass-baritone Gerald Finley and pianist Julius Drake set for Jan. 23 has been postponed with a new date yet to be announced. Finley was supposed to present the North American premiere of a song cycle titled “Without Ceremony” by Mark-Anthony Turnage.
