Violin professor Jan Repko is being charged with sexual assault by penetration.

The Royal College of Music professor appeared at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023.

Per reports, “the charge relates to an incident which took place in July 2022 in Westminster and was reported to police the same month. Officers from the Central West Command arrested Repko on August 10, 2022, and charged him on Friday, February 17.” He allegedly assaulted a woman over the age of 16 who was not identified. The act included penetration.

Repko did not enter a plea and is set to be arraigned at Southwark Crown Court on March 17.

Repko was a professor at Chetham’s School of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, though, per The Violin Channel, he is no longer associated with or employed by those institutions. The same source also reported that Repko was fired from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2001 because of allegations of inappropriate conduct.

Bail payment is set at 15,000 pounds. Under bail, he is not to contact former or current students and cannot attend the Royal College of Music without prior written appointment. Repko will also have to turn in his passport and cannot travel. He will also have to follow a curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., which will be electronically monitored.
