Roya Nasser, Lara Akeju, & Spiro Phanos Join Edinburgh International Festival Board of Directors

Edinburgh International Festival has announced three new appointments to its Board of Directors.

Joining the festival are corporate communications specialist and Partner at Brunswick Roya Nasserl; Commissioning Editor, Entertainment at ITV Lara Akeju; and management and legal consultant Spiro Phanos.

A partner at international strategic advisory firm Brunswick, Nasser has also founded her own communications consultancy, where she has worked with renowned museums and arts organizations worldwide.

Akeju brings with her over 20 years of experience in television production and development. Among her credits is Channel 4’s award-winning coverage of the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. From 2011 to 2014, she served as a Board Member of Directors UK.

Phanos has cultivated over 30 years of experience in the fields of law, finance, and the arts. He is the managing director of Spiridon Ventures, a management consultancy and corporate advisory firm.  A member of the bar in New York and New Jersey, Phanos is licensed to practice law before several United States federal district courts.

“I am delighted to welcome Lara, Roya and Spiro to the International Festival Board of Trustees,” Trustee and Chair of the Nominations Committee, Leonie Bell wrote in an official press release. “Their collective wealth of experience and knowledge across the media, communications and legal sectors is a fantastic addition to the expertise of our Board and will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for the organization.”

Edinburgh International Festival is now searching for someone to fill the upcoming position of Chairman of the Board, as current chair Professor Niall Lothian will retire in 2021.
