Rossini Opera Festival Revamps 2020 Fall Edition

The Rossini Opera Festival’s Autumn edition has been revamped due to Italy’s theater closures.

The festival in Pesaro, Italy, which was set for Nov. 1 through the 29, will now open on Nov. 14.

The season will open with a concert of Péchés de vieillesse with pianist Alessandro Marangoni on Nov. 14 followed by a concert at the Teatro Rossini on Nov. 15. Both concerts will be streamed for free without an audience.

On Nov. 25, the originally scheduled production of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will be performed in a production by Pier Luigi Pizzi. The production will star Juan Francisco Gatell, Carlo Lepore, Aya Wakizono, Iurii Samoilov, Michele Pertusi, and Elena Zilio. The production will also be performed on Nov. 27 and 29, 2020.

The festival will also present “Il Viaggio a Reims” with students of the Accademia Rossiniana 2020. The production will be showcase don Nov. 26 and 28, 2020.
