Rosa Feola Withdraws from Teatro San Carlo’s ‘La Traviata’ Due to Pregnancy

The Teatro San Carlo has announced a cast change for its production of “La Traviata.”

The company said, “We inform our audience that Rosa Feola, due to her pregnancy, will be replaced in the role of Violetta by Claudia Pavone for the performances of ‘La Traviata’ scheduled in July 2022.”

Pavone is well-known for her interpretation of Violetta, which she has performed at the Teatro La Fenice, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera di Romaand Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania. Her reperotire includes Bel Canto and Italian opera.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Yijie Shi and Simone Del Savio. The opera will also star Pretty Yende, Francesco Demuro, and Carlos Alvarez in a first cast.

“La Traviata” opens on July 22 and runs through July 30, 2022.
