Rosa Feola, Iván Ayón-Rivasm, Nicola Alaimo, Germán Enrique Alcántara Headline Opera Rara’s 56th Season

Opera Rara has announced its 56th season.

On the opera front, conductor Paul Daniel leads The Hallé and the English National Opera Chorus in the UK premiere of Offenbach’s “Barkouf,” using Jean-Christophe Keck’s critical edition of the 1860 opéra-bouffe. The performances will be preceded by the opera’s first-ever recording.

Performance Date: Oct. 4, 2026 — Bridgewater Hall, Manchester


Opera Rara will release the world premiere recording of the final 1921 version of Puccini’s “La rondine,” featuring the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Ermonela Jaho as Magda.

Artistic Director Carlo Rizzi conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the modern-day premiere of Mercadante’s “Il campo de’ crociati,” presented in a new critical edition by Roger Parker and Ian Schofield, with a cast led by Rosa Feola, Iván Ayón-Rivas and Germán Enrique Alcántara.

Performance Date: May 5, 2027 — Queen Elizabeth Hall, London


The eighth and final volume of the Donizetti Song Project, featuring Nicola Alaimo and Carlo Rizzi, will be released ahead of a culminating Donizetti & Friends concert at Wigmore Hall.
