Rolando Villazón will celebrate his 50th birthday with a concert “Cinquentañero.”

The concert, which will be held on Feb. 21, 2022, one day before his 50th birthday, will take place at the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg.

Many of Villazón’s closest collaborators will celebrate the famed tenor’s milestone birthday including Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo, Charles Castronovo, Magdalena Kozena, Regula Muehlemann, Fatma Said, and Michael Volle. The Camerata Salzburg will be conducted by Giedrė Šlekytė and Barbara Rett will host the event.

The performance will be available online on Feb. 22, 8pm (CET) on ARTE Concert, with additional television broadcasts on ORF III (February 27) and ARTE TV (April 17).

Villazón is one of the most influential singers of his generation having performed at many of the great theaters in the world. He is also a stage director, Artistic Director, and author of numerous books. This season, the tenor returns to the Metropolitan Opera and the Pittsburgh Opera.
