Three releases lead this week with one continuing a Mozart series and another featuring a world premiere.
The Thirteenth Child
Poul Ruders’ latest opera gets a world premiere recording following the first performances at the Santa Fe Opera. The cast includes Sarah Shafer as Princess Lyra, Tamara Mumford as Queen Gertrude/Ghost of Gertrude, Ashraf Sewailam as Drokan, Alasdair Kent as Prince Frederic/Toke, David Portillo as Benjamin, Matt Boehler as King Hjarne, and Alex Rosen as Corbin.
David Starobin and Benjamin Shwartz conduct the performance which Bridge Records will be releasing.
Rolando Villazón and Yannick Nézet-Séguin continue their Mozart series with the composer’s popular singspiel. The cast includes Klaus Florian Vogt, Albina Shagimurtova, Christiane Karg, Regula Muhlemann, and Franz-Josef Selig. Deutsche Grammophon releases the CD set.
Rossini’s rarely performed work gets a release with Hera Hyesang Park and Marianna Pizzolato leading the cast. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts the CD which also stars Kenneth Tarver, Rachel Kelly, and Gavan Ring. BR Klassik releases the CD.
