Rolando Villazón, Anna Prohaska, Rafael Fingerlos, Serena Sáenz, Edgardo Rocha Headline Mozart Week 2024

The Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation has unveiled its plans for Mozart Week 2024.

Rolando Villazón will launch the festivities in a concert alongside the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg under Roberto González-Monjas. The showcase will feature arias by Mozart and Salieri as well as his famed “Jupiter” Symphony.

Performance Date: Jan. 24, 2024

Next up is a concert featuring Villazón alongside Ulrich Leisinger and Timo Jouko Herrmann discussing and featuring music by Mozart and Salieri.

Performance Date: Jan. 25, 2024

Villazón and Bettina Geyer will direct “La Clemenza di Tito” in a showcase starring Edgardo Rocha, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Magdalena Kožená, and Christina Gansch. Jordi Savall conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 25 – Feb. 2, 2024

Soprano Tamara Ivaniš stars in a concert featuring music by Sardi, Mozart, and Salieri. She is joined by Carlos Golkoetxea and Stefan Wilkening.

Performance Dates: Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, 2024

Matthias Bundschuh will stage “Mozart and Salieri” with Karl Röhrig conducting. The opera will star students from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg and Ensemble des Salzburger Marionettentheaters.

Performance Dates: Jan. 27 – Feb. 4, 2024 

Rolando Villazón and Los Mariachis Negros will lead a Serenata Mexicana.

Performance Dates: Jan. 27, 2024

 Jordi Savall will conduct Mozart’s famed Requiem with Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Nacional de Catalunya. Soloists include Giulia Bolcato and Marianne Beate Kielland.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28, 2024

Soprano Olga Peretyatko will perform arias by Mozart in a concert alongside the Danish Chamber Orchestra under Ádám Fischer.

Performance Dates: Jan. 30, 2024

Baritone Rafael Fingerlos will join the Camerata Salzburg under Anja Bihlmaler in a concert featuring music by Mozart, Beethoven, Salieri, and Hummel. Also on the showcase is Mandolinist Avi Avital.

Performance Dates: Feb. 2, 2024

Serena Sáenz, Kathryn Lewek, Theodore Platt, and Nauel Di Pierro will join the Vienna Philharmonic under Andrés Orozco-Estrada for a performance of Mozart and Salieri’s “Der Schauspieldirektor” and “Prima la musica e poi le parole.” That concert also features works by Mozart and Haydn.

Performance Dates: Feb. 3, 2024

Closing out the festival will be a performance starring Anna Prohaska and the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg under Ivor Bolton. The program includes music by Mozart, Salieri, and Bach.

Performance Dates: Feb. 4, 2024

There will be screenings of the 2022 film “The Magic Flute,” “Amadeus,” and “L’Europa Riconosciuta.”
