The Bach Collegium Japan is set to present a concert at the Schubert Club on Feb. 7 and 8, 2023.

The showcase, which will star baritone Roderick Williams, represents the ensembles debut appearance in Minnesota.

Audiences will hear music by Bach, Telemann, and Janitch, including Bach’s Cantata for Bass Solo “Ich habe genug” and Telemann’s Cantata for Bass Solo “Der am Ölberg zagende Jesu.” Masaaki Suzuki will lead the performance from the harpsichord.

The Feb. 7 performance will take place at 7:30 p.m., while the Feb. 8 showcase is set to start at 2 p.m. local time.

Bach Collegium Japan was founded in 1990 with the goal of showing Japanese audiences historically informed performances from the baroque period. The organization expanded its reach, becoming an international sensation that has been lauded with numerous awards and opportunities, including a 2020 Gramophone Award, a 2014 ECHO Klassick Award, and a Diapason d’Or de l’Année 2010, among others.
