Baritone Samson McCrady has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit against in Chili, New York.

According to reports, five women have filed a federal lawsuit against the institution for its inaction on allegations of “sexual misconduct,” some of which directly implicate the baritone.

Two of the plaintiffs claim that McCrady “raped them, while the third said she fended off a rape attempt.” Per the reports, the institution banned the baritone from “coming near the women on campus but then took no action when he flaunted the rule.” He was subsequently banned from campus but not expelled and was then allowed to graduate in 2016.

Per The Democrat & Chronicle, the university sought to dissuade the women from speaking with law enforcement. Initially, one woman filed a claim back in August but has since been joined by four others.

“The plaintiffs’ accounts demonstrate a long standing pattern of Roberts disregarding women who report sexual harassment while actively supporting the male students accused of the behavior,” attorney J. Morgan Levy  said, who represents all the plaintiffs, in a press release. “They now call upon Roberts to make substantial, systemic changes so its students feel safe when reporting sexual harassment.”

OperaWire spoke to Levy by phone to confirm McCrady’s identity. Levy emphasized that any individuals who have been subjected to sex-based harassment and assault can always reach out to her firm; she also noted that there are several other organizations that support individuals in these situations as well.
