Roberto González-Monjas has renewed his contract as Music Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia.
He will now remain with the orchestra until 2029.
Regarding his new contract Gonnzález-Monjas said, “After two wonderful seasons with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia – and now fully immersed in our third, which will include our first major UK tour – I have never had the slightest doubt about the future of our collaboration. Making music with the OSG is like being at home: with deep trust, shared curiosity, a strong sense of community, and a contagious energy that fills both our rehearsals and concerts. Together with all the musicians, staff, and our manager, Juan Antonio Cuéllar, we have built a team that strives for excellence, inclusivity, and innovation. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue this artistic and human journey with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia.”
The board of directors announced the news. González-Monjas joined the orchestra in 2023, and the orchestra has since experienced artistic growth, including a national tour in 2024 that featured concerts in Girona, Barcelona, and Madrid. The orchestra is next set to go on an international tour in 2026 with concerts scheduled in London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
Under his leadership, the orchestra has also diversified its repertoire, combining contemporary works with classic staples.
