The Opéra de Paris announced that due to health reasons, the tenor was forced to cancel the April 14 performance. As a result, Jean-François Borras will perform the role of Don José.

Borras will once again sing alongside Anita Rachvelishvili, who sings the title role, Nicole Car, and Roberto Tagliavini.

Borras is scheduled to perform “Carmen” at the Opéra de Paris in the second cast starting April 23. The tenor recently performed “La Traviata’ in Paris and is set to sing the title roles of “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” in Lausanne and “Werther” in Toulouse. He will also perform in a revival of “Manon” at the Wiener Staatsoper and a new production of “Mesphistophele.”

Alagna recently canceled opening night due to health reasons. He is now scheduled to return to “Carmen” on April 17 and sings through the 20.
