River City Voices will present the Australia premiere of Amaral Vieira’s “Stabat Mater” on May 23, 2025.

The showcase, which also includes a performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” will take place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Western Sydney.

“I’m absolutely buzzing about the Australian premiere of my Stabat Mater! To have it performed in one of the world’s most vibrant musical centres is truly exciting. And what a thrill to know it will be in the hands of the incredible River City Voices, under the direction of the brilliant Maestra Sarah Penicka-Smith (…) it will make me so happy if my composition touches both the performers and the Australian audience,” said Vieira per an official press release.

Conducting the showcase is Dr. Sarah Penicka-Smith, the Artistic Director of River City Voices. She is joined by tenor Elias Wilson, soprano Sandra Patridge, alto Angelique Tot, and bass Benjamin Caukwell.

The performance kicks off at 8 p.m. and has a duration of two hours.
