Rihab Chaieb, Elizabeth Polese Headline Orchestre Classique de Montréal’s ‘Messiah’

The Orchestre Classique de Montréal has announced that it will present a special online performance of Handel’s “Messiah.”

The event will start streaming on Dec. 8, 2020 and will be available for repeat viewings through Dec. 22.

The showcase will feature soprano Elizabeth Polese, mezzo-soprano Rihab Chaieb, tenor Marcel d’Entremont, and baritone Hugo Laporte, under the musical direction of Boris Brott. Les Rugissants will also perform alongside conductor Xavier Brossard-Ménard, who will lead the first half of the concert.

Polese is a graduate of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal and a winner of the 2019 Sullivan Foundation Award.

Chaieb, who will also appear in Against the Grain Theatre’s production of “Messiah / Complex,” is a fixture at the Metropolitan Opera.

Laporte is a winner of the Teatro alla Scala prize and will debut with the famed company in 2023.

Finally, d’Entremont is the winner of the Portia White Prize.
