Rihab Chaieb, Brett Polegato, Vittoria Yeo, David Pomeroy Headline Calgary Opera’s 2022-23 Season

Calgary Opera has announced its 2022-23 season.

The 50th anniversary showcase will kick off with a special gala event hosted by Ben Heppner. It will feature such artists as Tracy Dahl, David Pomeroy, Lyne Fortin, Andrew Love, Krisztina Szabó, Brett Polegato, and John Tessier. Jonathan Brandani and Alice Farnham conduct.

Performance Date: Sept. 22, 2022

Brenna Corner will direct “Carmen” with Rihab Chaieb in the lead role and David Pomeroy as Don José. Mark Mordash conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19 – 25, 2022

Audiences will hear Joe Illick and Mark Campbell’s “Stone Soup.” The showcase will feature a number of other festival favorites.

Performance Dates: Dec. 10 & 11, 2022

Michael Christie conducts “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” with Tomer Zvulun directing. Brett Polegato takes on the title role.

Performance Dates: Feb. 4 – 10, 2023

Vittoria Yeo and Giuseppe Altomare will lead Verdi’s “Macbeth.” Jonathan Brandani conducts and Rachel Peake directs.

Performance Dates: April 22 – 28, 2023

The season closes with a production of “Béatrice et Bénédict.”

Performance Dates: May 12 & 13, 2023

There will also be several opera brunches and masterclasses throughout the season.
