The Riga Jurmala Music Festival has canceled its 2022 edition.

In a press statement, the Latvian organization noted that its decision resulted from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent war that is taking place.

“Due to the unfolding tragic war in Ukraine, we have decided to cancel next summer’s Festival. It is not a decision we take lightly but, in times of such human tragedy, we feel that the right thing to do is to forgo the planned events. We strongly condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” said the statement. “Since the events and our announcement of Friday, changes have been made to the Festival’s trustees and management with further ones to follow. In addition, we are committed to a full review of our operations in order to determine the Festival’s viability.”

We are deeply saddened by this turn of events but our focus now as a team and individually is to determine how we can help the Ukrainian victims of this terrible war.”

The festival was set to kick off in July 2022 and run through August.
