Riccardo Frizza To Conduct Hungarian Radio Symphony & The Orchestra Del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

The Italian conductor Riccardo Frizza will begin the year with two symphonic programs in Hungary and Italy.

On Jan. 15, Frizza will conduct the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in a program dedicated to Richard Strauss. The program will include Vier letzte Lieder sung by soprano Andrea Rost as well as the final scene of “Der Rosenkavalier.” Rost will be joined by Kinga Kriszta and Andrea Szántó. The program will also include the symphonic poem “Eine Alpensinfonie.”

Then on Jan. 29, the conductor will travel to the city of his birth, Brescia, where he will conduct the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The program will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary and will include the Egmont Overture, the Violin Concerto in D major, and Symphony No. 5. Italian-Romanian violinist Anna Tifu will perform the Violin Concerto.
