
Resonance Works Announces 2025-26 Season
By Francisco SalazarPittsburgh’s Resonance Works has announced the 2025-26 season.
In a statement, Artistic & General Director Maria Sensi Sellner said, “At Resonance Works, we believe that the arts reveal our shared humanity. This season invites audiences into stories of service, discovery, healing, and love; themes that are as personal as they are universal.”
The season opens with Reson8 Vocal Octet, presenting the live premiere of “Hero Songs” by Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi.
Performance Dates: Sept. 19-21, 2025
“The Jungle Book” by Kamala Sankaram and Kelley Rourke brings new life to Rudyard Kipling’s timeless tale. Eve Summer returns to direct this new production, which stars Timothi Williams as Raksha, Karlos Piñero-Mercado as Shere Khan, Sergio Martinez as Baloo, Samina Aslam as Bagheera, and Adrianna Cleveland as Hyena.
Performance Dates: Nov. 21-23, 2025
“Requiem for Water” by Reena Esmail will be presented. Also featured is the return of Nancy Galbraith’s Flute Concerto, commissioned and premiered by Resonance Works in 2019, with virtuosic flutist Lindsey Goodman once again as soloist, and Aaron Copland’s beloved Quiet City.
Performance Dates: March 6 & 8, 2026
Gounod’s “Roméo & Juliette,” originally conceived by Maria Sensi Sellner and stage director Justin Lucero for El Paso Opera will be performed. Benjamin Werley and Helen Zhibing Huang will take on the star-crossed lovers and will be joined by a cast that also includes Philip Cokorinos as Frère Laurent, Ricardo Herrera as Lord Capulet, Patrick McNally as Mercutio, Donovan Elliot Smith as Tybalt, and Cherry Duke as Gertrude.
