Renée Fleming to Host LA Opera’s Fifth Annual Arts & Health Week Summit
By David SalazarLA Opera has announced its fifth annual Los Angeles County Arts and Health Week Summit, set to take place on June 12 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Soprano Renée Fleming, who serves as LA Opera’s Special Projects Advisor and as a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health, will host and introduce the day-long event, joining local community leaders and organizations to explore the intersection of the arts and public wellbeing.
This year’s summit will center on five years of progress in arts and health equity across Los Angeles County, featuring conversations, presentations, and experiential activities aimed at translating research into scalable, community-based programs. Participating organizations include the Arts and Healing Initiative, the National Endowment for the Arts, the NeuroArts Blueprint Initiative, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, UCLA, and the USC Brain and Creativity Institute, among others. LA Opera Connects is also coordinating Arts and Health Week activations in each of the five Los Angeles County Supervisorial Districts.
“I am especially excited about this June’s emphasis on events in every district of the county. Strengthening grassroots connections between arts and health organizations is crucial for assuring that everyone across the region can access the scientifically proven, cost-effective benefits of the arts for well-being,” Fleming said, per an official press release.
The summit is co-presented with Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, and the Jameel Arts & Health Lab.
