Renée Fleming to Headline The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Upcoming Gala Event

The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Kimmel Center will present a special Great Stages Gala on May 16, 2023.

The event, which kicks off at 8 p.m., will be led by conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He will be joined by soprano Renée Fleming and singer Angélique Kidjo. Former 6abc Action News anchor Jim Gardner is set to host the performance.

There will be a pre-concert reception starting at 6 p.m. as well as a Luminaries Reception on the Academy of Main Stage starting at 5 p.m.

Nézet-Séguin is currently conducting a production of “Champion” at the Metropolitan Opera. Meanwhile, Fleming will appear in recital alongside Evgeny Kissin on May 31, 2023 at Carnegie Hall. She is also in the midst of a run of “Nixon in China” in Paris and will perform in Washington D.C., Kalamazoo, Providence, Aspen, and Salzburg over the coming months.
