Superstar soprano Renée Fleming will be taking the stage alongside Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning actor Ben Whishaw for “Norma Jeane Baker of Troy” at The Shed.

The world premiere of the dramatic work by Anne Carson is slated to run between April 6-May 19, 2019. Director Katie Mitchell, who has directed a number of operas including “Don Giovanni, “Katya Kabanova,” and “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the ROH, will stage the “Norma Jeane Baker of Troy.”

Per The Shed’s official website, the work will be partly spoken and partly sung and will explore the lives and myths of Helen of Troy and Marilyn Monroe. Music in the production will be by Paul Clark with the set design by Alex Eales. Sussie Juhlin-Wallén will costume design.

The work is set to run for 90 minutes without intermission. This is the latest project by Fleming that is not directly related to the traditional opera stage or repertory. She performed in “Carousel” on Broadway last year and also recorded her “Broadway” album.
