Renée Fleming, Sonya Yoncheva, Piotr Beczala, Sondra Radvanovsky, Lawrence Brownlee, Ailyn Pérez Headline 17th Season of PBS’ ‘Great Performances at the Met’

PBS has announced that it will begin broadcasting the 17th season of its “Great Performances at the Met” series this March.

In total, audiences will be able to check out 10 new opera performances with the first being “The Hours.” The opera stars Joyce DiDonato, Renée Fleming, and Kelli O’Hara with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting. Christine Baranski hosts.

Broadcast Date: March 17, 2023

 Next up is “La Traviata” starring Nadine Sierra, Stephen Costello, and Luca Salsi. Daniele Callegari conducts and Renée Fleming hosts.

Broadcast Date: April 2, 2023

That will be followed up by a broadcast of “Fedora” starring Sonya Yoncheva, Rosa Feola, Lucas Meachem, and Piotr Beczala with Marco Armiliato conducting. Christine Goerke hosts.

Broadcast Date: May 7, 2023

“Medea” will follow. Sondra Radvanovsky stars alongside Matthew Polenzani, Janai Brugger, and Michele Pertusi. Carlo Rizzi conducts. Joyce DiDonato hosts.

Broadcast Date: June 16, 2023

Next up is “Lohengrin” with Piotr Beczala, Tamara Wilson, and Christine Goerke with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts. Christopher Maltman hosts.

Broadcast Date: July 9, 2023

“Falstaff” stars Michale Volle, Ailyn Pérez, Hera Hyesang Park, Bogdan Volkov, Jennifer Johnson Cano, and Marie-Nicole Lemieux. Daniele Rustioni conducts while Ryan Speedo Green hosts.

Broadcast Date: August 6, 2023

Lise Davidsen, Isabel Leonard, and Erin Morley will feature in “Der Rosenkavalier” with Simone Young conducting. Deborah Voigt will host.

Broadcast Date: Sept. 10, 2023

For the new production of “Don Giovanni,” audiences will see Peter Mattei, Federica Lombardi, Adam Plachetka, Ana María Martinez, Ying Fang, and Ben Bliss. Erin Morley hosts while Nathalie Stutzmann will make her Met debut in the pit.

Broadcast Date: Oct. 1, 2023

Audiences will then see “Champion” starring Ryan Speedo Green, Eric Owens, Latonia Moore, Stephanie Blythe, and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Lawrence Brownlee hosts.

Broadcast Date: Nov. 5, 2023

The 17th season of “Great Performances at the Met” ends with “Die Zauberflöte.” The opera stars Erin Morley, Lawrence Brownlee, Thomas Oliemans, Kathryn Lewek, and Stephen Milling. Ben Bliss hosts while Nathalie Stutzmann conducts.
