Renée Fleming & Michelle DeYoung Highlight Aspen Music Festival 2020

The Aspen Music Festival has announced its 2020 summer program, which will consist of numerous of vocal and orchestral works.
For the purpose of this article, we will focus only on vocal works.
Famed soprano Renée Fleming will give a solo recital featuring music from R. Strauss’ “Capriccio” as well as Kevin Puts’ “Letters from Georgia.” Robert Spano will conduct.
Performance Date: July 5, 2020
The Aspen Opera Theater and vocal arts recital will feature members of the Aspen’s opera program performing arias, art songs, and musical theater.
Performance Dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6, 13 & 20, 2020
Renée Fleming will hold an Opera Theater Master Class where she will coach emerging talents in opera scenes.
Performance Dates: July 11 & 18, 2020
Renée Fleming will also host a special master class where she will work with young singers.
Performance Date: July 14, 2020
Mozart and Schikaneder’s opera “The Magic Flute” will be sung by the emerging talents of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalsARTS program. Patrick Summers will conduct the production by Edward Berkeley.
Performance Dates: July 16, 18 & 20, 2020
Singers of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program will be performing opera, art song, and songbook gems in a private home setting.
Performance Date: July 22, 2020
The Opera Theater Master Class will feature young members of the program of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS being coached in vocal and opera scenes.
Performance Dates: July 25, August 1, 8, 15 & 22, 2020
Thomson and Stein’s opera “The Mother of Us All” will be performed in a semi-staged setting with singers of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program. Scott Terrell will conduct.
Performance Date: August 5, 2020
Mezzo-soprano Michelle de Young will give a recital featuring works by Beethoven, Mahler, R. Strauss, Blake, Bridge and Angelou. Calio Alonso will be at the piano.
Performance Date: August 11, 2020
Gordon’s opera “The Grapes of Wrath” will be performed by the student talents of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program. Andy Einhorn will conduct the production by Louisa Muller.
Performance dates: August 20 & 22, 2020
