Renée Fleming, Jonas Kaufmann, Sophie Koch, Piotr Beczala, Asmik Grigorian Headline Opera Naples’ Summer Film Series

Opera Naples will be presenting a summer film series starting on July 6, 2022 and running through Oct. 19.

The screenings, which will take place at the Wang Opera Center, will kick off with a performance of “Madama Butterfly” from the Teatro alla Scala. The showcase, which is conducted by Riccardo Chailly and stars María José Siri, features the original two-act version of the opera.

Screening Date: July 6, 2022

Next up is La Scala’s “Turandot” with Chailly and Nina Stemme in the title role. That version features a new ending by Luciano Berio.

Screening Date: July 20, 2022

From there, audiences can check out Renée Fleming in “Ariadne auf Naxos” from the Baden Baden Festspielhaus. The opera also stars Sophie Koch and is conducted by Christian Thielemann.

Piotr Beczala headlines the Teatro Real’s 2018-19 production of “Faust” alongside Marina Rebeka.

Screening Date: August 17, 2022

The company will present Calixto Bieito’s “Falstaff” from the Staatsoper Hamburg with Ambrogio Maestri in the title role and Maija Kovalevksa as Alice Ford.

Screening Date: Sept. 7, 2022

Next up is “Der Rosenkavalier” from Baden Baden, also with Renée Fleming as well as Diana Damrau, Sophie Koch, and Jonas Kaufmann.

Screening Date: Sept. 21, 2022

Audiences will then get to see “Rusalka” from the Teatro Real starring Asmik Grigorian and Eric Cutler.

Screening Date: Oct. 5, 2022

The series comes to a close with “Elektra” starring Aušriné Stundyté, Asmik Grigorian, and Tanja Ariane Baumgartner from the Salzburg Festival.
