Renée Fleming, Joélle Harvey, Isabel Leonard, Lauren Snouffer, Reginald Mobley Lead San Francisco Symphony’s 2026–27 Vocal Season

The San Francisco Symphony has announced its 2026–27 season, taking place September 8, 2026–June 27, 2027. Here are the vocal performances on offer.

Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali leads soprano Renée Fleming in Richard Strauss’s “Four Last Songs,” alongside Strauss’s “Ein Heldenleben.” In connection with Fleming’s performances, the Symphony presents Music and the Mind, an evening of discussion between the soprano and UCSF neuroscientist Dr. Charles Limb about the connections between music, health, and neuroscience.

Performance Dates: Oct. 1 & 3–4, 2026


Conductor Elim Chan leads Johannes Brahms’s “Nänie” and the first San Francisco Symphony performances of Arvo Pärt’s “Magnificat,” both with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29–31, 2026


Conductor Fabien Gabel leads Maurice Ravel’s “Shéhérazade” and the first San Francisco Symphony performances of Claude Debussy’s “Le jet d’eau” from Cinq poèmes de Charles Baudelaire, both featuring mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard.

Performance Dates: Nov. 6 & 8, 2026


Conductor Ruben Valenzuela makes his Orchestral Series debut leading the Symphony’s annual performances of Händel’s “Messiah” with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. The cast features soprano Lauren Snouffer, countertenor Reginald Mobley in his Orchestral Series debut, tenor Zachary Wilder, and bass-baritone Enrico Lagasca in his Orchestral Series debut.

Performance Dates: Dec. 4–5, 2026


Conductor Jane Glover leads Haydn’s “The Creation” with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. The cast features soprano Joélle Harvey, tenor Miles Mykkanen in his Orchestral Series debut, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel.

Performance Dates: Apr. 3–4, 2027


Conductor Teddy Abrams leads the first San Francisco Symphony performances of Ernest Bloch’s “Avodath Hakodesh” (Sacred Service), presented in partnership with San Francisco’s Congregation Emanu-El and featuring Cantor Arik Luck alongside the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.

Performance Dates: May 22, 2027


Conductor Cristian Măcelaru leads a program featuring Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms” and “The Song of the Nightingale, ” with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus joining for the Symphony of Psalms. The program also features “The Firebird.”

Performance Dates: Jun. 3–5, 2027


Conductor Gustavo Gimeno leads Alexander Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances” from “Prince Igor” with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, alongside Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Yefim Bronfman and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5.

Performance Dates: Jun. 25–27, 2027
