René Pape Honored As Kammersänger In Vienna

The bass announced via social media that he was given the honor during his performance of “The Magic Flute.”
He stated, “I am incredibly honored to have been awarded the title of ‘Österreichischer Kammersänger’ after my performance of ‘The Magic Flute’ at the Wiener Staatsoper last night. I love singing at this wonderful house and the Viennese public is very dear to my heart. After being named Berliner Kammersänger and Bayerischer Kammersänger, this will be my third Kammersänger title. Big thank you to the Wiener Staatsoper for this beautiful honor.”
Pape continues performing “The Magic Flute” through the holidays before heading to Salzburg for “T.H.A.M.O.S.” He returns to Vienna for “Elektra” and then returns to the Bayerischer Staatsoper for “Parsifal.”
