René Barbera Replaces Gregory Kunde in Verdi Requiem With NDR Elbplharmonie Orchestra

René Barbera is stepping in for Gregory Kunde at the NDR Elbplharmonie Orchestra.
The hall announced that Barbera will sing the tenor role in Verdi’s Requiem for the performance scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, 2019. The latter showcase will be live streamed.
The tenor will join a cast that includes soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, and bass Riccardo Zanellato. Alan Gilbert conducts the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Rundfunkchor Berlin.
Barbera is an American tenor who recently performed at the Wiener Staatsoper and is set to perform the Requiem at The Shed in New York City and at with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He will also perform at the Teatro Carlo Felice, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and Teatro alla Scala throughout the 2019-20 season.
