René Barbera, Austrine Stundyte, Tomasz Konieczny & Issachah Savage Lead Dutch National Opera’s 2024-25 Season

The Dutch National Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

René Barbera, Roman Burdenko, Aigul Khismatullina, Alexander Köpeczi, and Maya Gour Star in a revival of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.” Yi-Chen Lin conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 2-29, 2024

Britten’s “Peter Grimes” will get a new production by Barbora Horáková. Lorenzo Viotti conducts a cast that includes Issachah Savage, Johanni van Oostrum, and Leigh Melrose.

Performance Dates: Oct. 6-22, 2024

Bnnyhunna’s “Lennox” will be directed by Marjorie Boston.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27-Nov. 3, 2024

Romeo Castellucci directs a new production of “Le Lacrime di Eros” with music by Caccini, Peri, and Monteverdi. Raphaël Pichon conducts a cast that includes Gyula Orendt, Jeanine De Bique, Katia Ledoux, and Zachary Wilder.

Performance Dates: Nov. 15-21, 2024

Barrie Kosky’s production of Strauss II’s “Die Fledermaus” will be conducted by Lorenzo Viotti.  Jacquelyn Stucker, Audun Iversen, Sydney Mancasola, Marina Viotti, and Thomas Oliemasn lead the cast.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5-29, 2024

Mathilde Wanten’s “A Song for the Moon” will be directed by Béatrice Lachaussée. Vera Fiselier, Ginette Puylaert, Eline Welle, Jan-Willem Schaafsma, Berend Eijkhout, and Mirna Ackers.

Performance Dates: Dec. 21, 2024-Jan. 5, 2025

Stephan’s “Die ersten Menschen” will be conducted by Kwamé Ryan and will star Kyle Ketelsen, Leigh Melrose, Annette Dasch, and John Osborn.

Performance Dates: Jan. 22-Feb. 2, 2025

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui directs a new production of Mozart’s “Idomeneo.” Laurence Cummings conducts a cast that includes Daniel Behle, Cecilia Molinari, Anna El-Khashem, Jacquelyn Wagner, Linard Vrielink, and Angel Romero.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7-23, 2025

Katie Mitchell will direct a new production of Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten.” Marc Albrecht conducts a cast that includes Austrine Stundyte, Sara Jakubiak, A. J. Glueckert, Michaela Schuster, and Josef Wagner.

Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” will be conducted by Camille Delaforge and directed by Rosemary Joshua.

Performance Dates: April 25-May 6, 2025

The family production “How Anansi freed the stories of the world” will star Thando Mjandana, Katia Ledoux, Frederik Bergman, Martin Mkhize, Carla Nahadi Babelegoto, and Claron McFadden. Lochlan Brown conducts the production by Kenza Koutchoukali.

Performance Dates: May 16-25, 2025

Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” will be directed by Kirill Serebrennikov and conducted by Vasily Petrenko. The cast includes Tomasz Konieczny, Inna Demenkova, Dmitry Ulyanov, and Shenyang.

Performance Dates: June 10-29, 2025

Opera Forward Festival 

“We Are The Lucky Ones” by Philip Venables, Ted Huffman, and Nina Segal will be directed by Bassem Akiki. The cast includes Claron McFadden, Jacquelyn Stucker, Nina van Essen, Helena Rasker, Miles Mykkanen, Frederick Ballentine, Germán Olvera, and Alex Rosen.

Performance Dates: March 14-30, 2024

Gregory Caers and Bas Gaakeer’s “Codes” will be performed.

Performance Dates: March 15-TBA, 2025

Kenza Koutchoukali and Bushra El-Turk’s “OUM” will be performed.

Performance Dates: March 21-23, 2025
