Renato Bruson to Receive Premio Verga

Bruson was chosen by in collaboration with il Comune di Parma dall’Organizzazione Verga 100 and Festival Verghiano. The award is given to artists every year and the award ceremony will be held at the Teatro Regio di Parma, a theater where Bruson is well-known and where he had a relationship throughout his career.
The award was last given to Plácido Domingo for his interpretation of Turiddu in “Cavalleria Rustciana” and now Bruson is being awarded for his interpretation of Alfio in the same work.
Bruson is an Italian operatic baritone who is considered one of the most important Verdi baritones of the late 20th and early 21st century. He performed in every major opera house in the world including the Royal Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, the Wiener Staatsoper, and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
