Regina Opera to Honor José Alejandro ‘Alex’ Guzmán With Special Performance

Regina Opera is set to present a concert honoring the memory of late conductor José Alejandro “Alex” Guzmán.

The showcase, which is set to take place, on Nov. 21, 2021 at the OLPH school Auditorium in New York City, will feature Regina Opera soloists and Orchestra conducted by Gregory Ortega and Scott Jackson Wiley.

Audiences will hear selections from “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Fidelio,” “Otello,” “Don Giovanni,” “Manon Lescaut,” and “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

Guzmán passed away from cancer on March 17, 2021. He was a fixture of the New York City classical music scene, leading a number of organizations, including the Staten Island Philharmonic, Regina Opera Company, the Centre Symphony, Amore Opera, the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, the Rockaway-Five Towns Symphony, and the Bronx Symphony, among others.

All attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19. They will also be required to wear facemasks throughout the performance.
