Rebekah Rota to be New Intendant at Oper Wuppertal

Oper Wuppertal has announced that Rebekah Rota will be its new Intendant.

She will take over the position starting in August 2023.

The Deputy Director of Opera at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlruhe, Rota is a native Californian with a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Michigan.

She performed over 40 roles as a singer, appearing with such companies as Michigan Opera Theater and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Per Operabase, her most recent performance as a soprano took place in 2019 in a production of “Hänsel und Gretel.”

From there, Rota would go on to become a stage director where she was renowned for her work at “Così fan tutte” at Michigan Opera and “The Diary of Anne Frank at the International Penderecki Festival in Zabrze.
