Rebeka Lokar, Roberta Mantegna & Mattia Olivieri Highlight Macerata Opera Festival 2020 Slate

The Macerata Opera Festival has announced its 2020 program. This season the festival will showcase three popular operas with renown casts starting on July 17 through August 9, 2020.

The festival opens with Puccini’s “Tosca” conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta and directed by Valentina Carrasco. The production will star Rebeka Lokar in the title role, Piero Pretti as Cavaradossi, and Roberto Frontali as the villainous Scarpia.

Performance Dates: July 17-August 7, 2020

Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” follows with Mattia Olivieri in the title role, Adrian Sampetrean as Leporello, Karen Gardeazabal as Donna Anna, Giovanni Sala as Don Ottavio, and Valentina Mastrangelo as Donna Elvira. Diego Fasolis conducts the production by Davide Livermore.

Performance Dates: July 18-August 8, 2020 

The final opera of the festival will be Verdi’ “Il Trovatore” with Jordi Bernàcer conducting a revival of Francisco Negrín’s production with Luciano Ganci in the lead role. He will be accompanied by Roberta Mantegna as Leonora, Sonia Ganassi as Azucena, and Massimo Cavalletti as Conte di Luna.
