Ravenna Festival Unveils Autumn 2024 Festival Lineup
By Francisco SalazarThe Ravenna Festival has announced its autumn festival, which will run from Nov. 15 to 19, 2024, and be performed at the Teatro Aligheri.
The festival will journey back in time to the roots of bel canto and the origins of opera, through the sounds and atmospheres of 17th-century Baroque music.
Monteverdi’s “Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria” will be performed by the Accademia Bizantina and conducted by Ottavio Dantone. Pier Luigi Pizzi directs a production that stars Danilo Pastore, Gianluca Margheri, Chiara Nicastro, Paola Valentini Molinari, Gianluca Margheri, Federico Sacchi, Arianna Vendittelli, Candida Guida, Dominik Koeninger, Delphine Galou, and Valerio Contaldo.
Performance Dates: Nov. 15 & 18, 2024
The company will present “Dido and Aeneas on the Day of St. Cecilia,” performed by the Accademia Bizantina and conductor Ottavio Dantone. Pier Luigi Pizzi directs the double bill, which will include “Hail! Bright Cecilia Z 328,” and will star Charlotte Bowden, Delphine Galou, Candida Guida, Žiga Čopi, Gianluca Margheri, and Federico Sacchi. “Dido and Aeneas” will star Arianna Vendittelli, Charlotte Bowden, and Dominik Koeninger.

Jakub Józef Orliński is set to present “Beyond.” He will be joined by Il Pomo d’Oro in a program that includes music by Claudio Monteverdi, Biagio Marini, Giulio Caccini, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Johann Kaspar Kerll, Barbara Strozzi, Francesco Cavalli, Carlo Pallavicino, Giovanni Cesare Netti, Antonio Sartorio, Adam Jarze˛bski, and Sebastiano Moratelli.
