Random Opera Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for World Premiere of ‘Elena e Gerardo’

By David Salazar

Random Opera has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its upcoming world premiere production of “Elena e Gerardo.”

The only work by Marianna Bottini, which has never been performed, is based on an original story by Matteo Bandello. General Director Richard Tegid Jones discovered the completed score in Lucca and has since set out to bring about the world premiere at the Temple Speech Room in Rugby in 2023.

The crowdfunding campaign would cover the following production costs – convert the original handwritten manuscript into a printed score; contract a 26-piece chamber orchestra; engage a sound engineer to record the work; prepare a piano reduction for rehearsals.

Audiences who contribute will be given several rewards including a digital preview, an opportunity to meet with artists, a reception with artists following the performance, and a signed copy of the score.
