Rame Lahaj, Layla Claire & Daniel Okulitch Highlight Opéra de Montréal’s 2020-21 Season

The Opéra de Montréal has announced its 2020-21 season with five productions highlighting the season.

The season opens with Verdi’s “La Traviata” starring Marie-Josée Lord in the title role, Rame Lahaj as Alfredo, and Jean-François Lapointe as Germont. Jordan De Souza conducts Alain Gauthier’s production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 26-Oct. 1, 2020

Marianne Fiset sings the title role in Janáček’s “Jenůfa” with Samuel Lakker, Adam Smith, Agnès Zwisrko, Tom Goertz, and Stefania Toczyska. Atom Egoyan directs the new production with Alexander Briger conducting.

Performance Dates: Nov. 14-22, 2020

Julien Bilodeau and Michel Marc Bouchard “La beauté du monde” is set to makes its world premiere with a cast that includes Philippe Sly, Elliot Madore, Julie Boulianne, Layla Claire, Isaiah Bell, France Bellemare, Jean Michel Richer, and Marc Hervieux. Jean-Marie Zeitouni conducts the new production by Florent Siaud.

Performance Dates: March 20-28 2021

Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” returns to the stage with Daniel Okulitch, Andrea Nunez, Kirsten McKinnon, Hugo Laporte, Katie Miller, Sydney Frodsham, Brenden Friesen, and Vanessa Croome. Nicolas Ellis conducts Stephen Lawless’s production.

Performance Dates: May 8-16, 2021

Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Riders to the Sea” will see I Musici de Montréal and Ballet Opéra Pantomime join forces with OdM for a unique double bill in which the sea plays a leading role. A new work to an original libretto about migrants by Olivier Kemeid with music by Hubert Tanguay-Labrosse will follow. Hubert Tanguay-Labrosse conducts.

Performance Dates: May 22 & 23 2021
