RaiCultura to Celebrate Renata Tebaldi’s 20th Anniversary of her Death

Rai Cultura is set to celebrate Renata Tebladi’s 20th anniversary of her death.

The broadcast company will showcase “Renata Tebaldi. Ritratto di una voce,” a special dedicated to the great Italian soprano directed by Edmo Fenoglio.

The documentary which premieres on Dec. 20 on Rai 5, will showcase the soprano in different stages of her career and will also have interviews with Tebaldi speaking of her education, her debut, and her participation in the reopening of the Teatro alla Scala as well as her Metropolitan Opera career.

Tebaldi died on Dec. 19, 2004 and was known as the “voce d’angelo.” She was well known for her interpretations of Verdi, Puccini, and verismo roles. She performed at every major opera house and was well known for her relationship with the Metropolitan Opera where she performed for 20 years.
