On March 28, Rai5 is set to present Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” from the Teatro alla Scala.
The Mario Martone production, which was recorded by Rai Cultura, stars Alexey Markov, Aida Garifullina, Alisa Kolosova, Dmitry Korchak, Elmina Hasan, Dmitry Ulyanov, and Julia Gertseva. Timur Zangiev conducts.
A review from OperaWire said, “Alexey Markov delivered an Onegin with a warm voice and beautiful timbre, combined with a seductive stage presence and a touch of melancholy.”
Regarding Garifullina, the critic said, she “exhibited a homogeneous and secure voice.”
“Eugene Onegin” was presented between Feb. 19 and March 11, 2025.
