
Rachel Willis-Sørensen & Tomasz Konieczny Lead Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Arabella’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to present Strauss’ “Arabella” for the first time since 2014.
The company will present Otto Schenk’s 1983 production, with sets designed by Günther Schneider-Siemssen, costumes by Milena Canonero, and lighting by Gil Wechsler.
The work will star Soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen in the title role and Tomasz Konieczny as Mandryka. The cast wil also include Louise Alder as Zdenka, Julie Roset as Fiakermilli, Karen Cargill as Adelaide, Pavol Breslik as Matteo, and Brindley Sherratt as Waldner.
Maestro Nicholas Carter takes the podium.
The opera will be broadcast with the matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 22 transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series. The Nov. 10 and 25 performances will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app and streamed on the Met’s website.
