Quinn Kelsey To Star In LA Opera’s ‘Roberto Devereux’

By Francisco Salazar

Quinn Kelsey is set to sing the role of Nottingham at the LA Opera in the upcoming production of “Roberto a Devereux.”

The LA Opera announced that Kelsey will replace Plácido Domingo, who was originally scheduled to sing the role but canceled amidst allegations of sexual harassment.

This season, Kelsey returned to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for his role debut as Miller in “Luisa Miller.” He is set to return to the Metropolitan Opera to reprise Germont in “La Traviata“ at the Metropolitan Opera and will also join the company as Marcello in Act one of “La Bohème“ for its New Year’s Eve Gala. The baritone will also return to the Opernhaus Zürich for Guido di Monforte in a new Calixto Bieito production of ”I Vespri Siciliani.”

Kelsey joins a cast that includes Davinia Rodriguez in her role debut as Elisabetta, Ramón Vargas in the title role, and Alice Coote. Eun Sun Kim conducts.

Performances open Feb. 22, 2020.
